Prison Visits and Other Activities

In the programme you are invited to join an interesting tour of either one of 4 Austrian prisons, or to a training workshop for released prisoners run by the Austrian probation service.

Since places are strictly limited, subject to security and policy constraints, we also offer delegates the option to join a research roundtable on prison education, as an alternative to a site visit.

Here is some detailed information about these options.

Spouses, friends and other accompanying guests

Should you wish to bring spouses, friends or other accompanying guests to Vienna at this wonderful time of year, you can find an up-to-date programme of activities, exhibitions, cultural events, parks and restaurants at the following link: https://events.wien.info/en/

About the conference theme: A frontier represents uncharted territory. New boundaries that you are challenged to explore. Working in prison education, you are always at the cutting edge, facing new challenges, finding new opportunities, and framing new aspirations. The 16th EPEA Training Conference in Vienna will address the shifting context and frontiers of prison education. We invite you to join us in discovering how educational professionals can respond to these developments, and to be inspired by ideas and promising practices from around Europe and beyond.

A collaboration with our local partner OCG promises to result in a memorable International Prison Education Event. Together we will make this event another successful and interesting meeting between Prison Education professionals from Europe and beyond!
