Prison Education

Europe’s prison population is around 640,000 and it’s estimated that only 3-5% are at a level that would allow them to progress into higher education. Many of them are low-skilled and early school leavers.

Low education levels affect prisoners’ employment prospects, and impact reinsertion into society and the likelihood of recidivism. To discuss prison education, EPALE are holding a text-based discussion as part of EPALE Prison Education Week.

Join this event between 26 and 28 January to have your say. To ask a question or leave a comment when the text-based discussion starts, sign up to EPALE here.
