A Message from the Chair

(Please see below for presentation files from our conference)

Dear members, dear participants of the EPEA Conference in Antwerp last week.

Looking back on an enormously successful event I would like to thank you all once more for participating. “Unlocking Innovation” – our 15th conference, can be remembered as a wonderful few days with lots of new alliances, shared project results, plans for future collaboration and information to be shared with the colleagues that could not come.
Without your presence it would not have been such a success. So thank you for joining us. Without the keynote speakers we wouldn’t have had so much quality and background information to bring home. So thank you, speakers, for your contributions. The diversity of the workshops is needed to cater for  everyone’s taste and professional  interest. I think we succeeded in bringing you a broad variety to choose from, thank you all workshop leaders, to present your best practice. There were so many happy faces, good discussions and most people I spoke, talked to me passionately about something new they heard of or someone they just met about such and such project. This is what our conferences are about; meeting, guiding, connecting and sharing.
I must admit that the programme was quite full, we had planned quite long days for you.
Especially for non-native speakers this means that after a long day of listening, you can be left without much energy.
So of course there was time to regroup our (inner) forces, the cultural visits and the dinners were welcome change with more interaction and informal meetings. The Belgian organizing team, I cannot stress this enough, have really done everything to make us feel at home, informed and they took care of all hickups.
Your warm applause at several occasions made more than clear that you appreciated this enormously. The Belgian Prison Service (Hans Meurisse and his team) together with Klasbak (the Adult Education Provider in Flanders) have done a really excellent job. Thank you Belgium!! Without such a local organising team, it is impossible for the EPEA to organise their conferences.
You will be happy to hear that within the next few weeks  we will inform you about our tender for the 2017 Conference. We will let you know through our webpage when and how you can apply for our 16th Conference.Hope that you will have inspiration for the time ahead and we will hopefully meet again in 2017!!!!On behalf of our entire Steering CommitteeBest regards,

Annet Bakker
Chair EPEA
