EU COUNCIL CONCLUSIONS ON SMALL-SCALE DETENTION

with No Comments

On June 14th the ministers for Justice of the 27 EU countries unanimously expressed their support for the use of detention houses. They did so by adopting Council Conclusions on Small-scale Detention and thereby inviting all member states to consider, where appropriate, the use of small-scale detention facilities for custodial purposes, including detention houses, with the aim of limiting the negative impacts of detention, and ensuring better guidance for incarcerated persons on returning to society. To manage and offer education in Small-scale detention facilities would be also a challenge for the educational system in every country.
