Activities dedicated to the International Day of Prison Education will be performed in all the units of the prison system on Thursday, October 13th, 2016.

The National Administration of Penitentiaries in Romania has supported E.P.E.A endeavours to celebrate the International Day of Prison Education, event which is at its 3rd edition within the Romanian Prison System.

The international professional recognition and the emphasis on the significance of the educational role played by the detention institutions have received new connotations and have led to the fruitful collaboration with the European Prison Education Association (EPEA). In this regard, in 2014 and 2015, the National Administration of the Penitentiaries was part of the undertakings in the celebration of October 13th as the International Day of Prison Education, by organizing thematic activities valorised at the European level.

On Thursday, October 13th, 2016, the specialists of the Education and Psychological Support Departments will organize various events on the main topic: educatibility and the significance of education in the prison environment.

The specific topics will be analysed and discussed together with the inmates and the collaborators during book releases, conferences, thematic competitions or workshops on education.

On this occasion the educational component on preventing delinquency will be valorised by organizing some events within the community.

In order to allow as many prisoners as possible to have access to the approached topics, the events will be recorded and broadcast through the close circuit TV networks in prisons.
