To celebrate the International Prison Education Day Denmark starts distance prison education for prisoners.

Inmates in closed prisons in Denmark can from this day forward take part in distance education conducted by teachers employed by the prison service and by external institutions.

To understand the special pedagogy used in distance education the 5 teachers have been through a special training program for 6 month. The training includes, use of video in flipped classroom method and how to understand collaborative learning in a secure prison environment. The University College Lillebaelt has provided theoretical knowledge.

To begin with the inmates are offered education in Science, English, ICT, Math and Social studies. The courses are developed to adapt the special pedagogy used in distance education.
