The former prisoner Erwin James dies aged 66 on January 19, 2024 in his home. He was an influential Guardian columeist, cheif editor of Inside Time and writer of 3 books.
Erwin James was a speaker at the first Dublin EPEA conference.
He was an outstaning defenter and expert advocat for prison education
The Guardian says: “Education, key to James’s change, and which in childhood he had so tragically lacked, was always at the forefront of his thoughts”.
