International Criminal Justice Summer Course – Radicalisation and Extreme Violence 

The Criminal Justice Platform Europe (CJPE) is organising the second edition of the International Criminal Justice Summer Course in Barcelona from 3-6 July 2018 at the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialised Training. The aim of the Summer Course is to examine key practice issues, inspire new thinking, promote cross-fertilisation and build new networks to improve services and practice in prison, probation and restorative justice. This year theme will be on radicalisation and violent extremism.

SUMMER COURSE TOPICS

 

The workshops are divided into three main themes:

 

·    Characteristics of Violent Extremist Offenders (VEO) coming into prisons: assessment, treatment and reintegration;

·    Exploring ‘alternatives to detention’: concrete activities and practices that help to develop understanding and competences for working with VEOs;

·    Reimagining Violent Extremism (restoratively): sharing feelings, listening to stories and involving victims as a response to understand radicalisation.

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

 

The target audience for the Criminal Justice Summer Course exists of expert practitioners, subject specialists, project development leaders, practice managers, trainers, academic practice teachers and researchers. The workshops will be attended by a mixture of participants with a background in prison, probation and restorative justice from a variety of European countries.

 

FURTHER INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION

 

The conference fee will be €375 for early bird tickets (available until 15th of April 2018) and €425 for a regular ticket. The fee includes materials, coffee breaks, one dinner, a local visit and a certificate of attendance. Flights, accommodation and subsistence (like, lunch) are not included.
