Presentation of new chairperson Lena Axelsson
Lena Axelsson, Swedish National Prison Education Manager, is employed at the head office of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service since 2008. She started her career as a qualified teacher at upper secondary level within municipal adult education in the middle of the eighties. The circumstances then gave her the opportunity to work as a principal.
Her next experience is from national Swedish adult education and distance learning for almost a decade. That is where she got involved in prison education, in a joint venture, with the mission to introduce new ways of organizing prison education and to improve quality, continuity and equivalence of education in all Swedish prisons.
Lena Axelsson is also the Swedish representative in the Nordic Network for Education in Prison.
